Can a kitten come out of a coma caused by head truama?

My kitten got bit by my in laws dog and now he's in the hospital and the vet has said neulogoly he has not improved but he's still breathing on his own and is not seizing so I'm not sure if I want to put him down yet. It's only been a little less than 48 hours. Does anyone have some advice?
