Does it sound like my son is ready for potty training? Tips please?!?

I am in the same boat as you (except my son is 19 months), but shows a lot of interest and will bring me diapers when he needs to be changed! I think the best thing would be to try it, and if he doesn't take to it, then simply wait til' he is older. I also bought my son an Elmo potty :) He really likes it! I was always in the understanding that once you started potty training you go into pull-ups, but since I haven't ever done this before either, I am not entirely sure :)
