Is this kind of birthmark weird?

I have these nasty birthmarks or moles that I want to get rid of. I have this birthmark on my neck and its not like huge, but its quite noticeable. And its nasty too, its not flat, it sticks out a lot, its basically looks like a little brown meat ball attached to a small thread of skin on my neck. I have a similar one about an inch above my belly on, but this one is more attached to my skin and not visible until I take off my shirt. Are these normal, because I have seen my mom have a similar birthmark on her neck. I do not think my birthmark is a cancerous tumor, I think its heredity or something. But I am self conscience of my stuck-out birthmarks and wondering if its safe to remove them.
