Am I returning rudeness with rudeness?

It does sound like she is throwing her own party. Kind of strange, but we are OK if someone throws their own birthday party. If she is a first-time mother, it wouldn't hurt to run to WalMart and get a greeting card and a gift card if you feel so inclined. She may be registered, but she can use a gift card to buy diapers and other baby supplies.
