Name of an old pc game?

Trying to remember an old pc game I played as a kid. It was a RTS with a futuristic setting. You built little armies to fight, but could construct giant robot units that you could customize with different weapons and armor that you bought/researched or scavenged from other robots. Had to have been release in the late 90's.
