Why are Japanese women very selective in who they date?

Ok, why do Japanese women not care about what race their friends are but when it comes to dating they only want to date the typical "white male with blonde or black hair and blue eyes" ? The answer is plainly obvious to me, I am just curious to see what opinions others may have.
