Why do so many people care about steroids?

Me being in the medical field knows that steroids does nothing to make you a better hitter or fielder. Most likely steroids would make you slower. You don't need steroids to hit home-runs, high school students do it all the time, its all about hand eye coordination. This is the reason why no one likes baseball. They whine about too many things.
